How to pick a career

  1. Consider the every day tasks of the career. Do you enjoy them? Is there factors that affect your health? Are the tasks suited to you?

  2. Reflect on what makes you happy. Turn off autopilot and define your personal values. Don't chase a career with a high wage or respected title or a value defined by someone else.

  3. Reduce the effect of fear. What if you were immortal? What do you like doing, regardless whether you fail at it.

  4. Pursue a career that leaves you feeling energised at the end of a work day. Don't pursue a career that wears you down and leaves you tired.

  5. Don't pursue a career in which you would monitor the clock, looking forward to the end of the work day. Don't wish your life away.

  6. Think back on a time where you did something well and you felt fulfilment. Something you enjoyed and you felt personally proud for a long time afterwards.
