Sources of mental suffering

1.        Overload. Without time to think or reflect, you forget your values and motivation. You blindly follow your impulses or others since it’s time efficient.

2.        You look for and focus on negatives for your own protection. This survival instinct allows us to avoid harm. However it is more harmful itself in the modern world.

3.        You focus on avoiding failure instead of achieving success.

4.        You seek problems out of boredom. There is nothing interesting about perfection. Change your habit to appreciate instead of seeking change or improvement

5.        A desire for consistency. We are habitual creatures and tend to what is frequented by nature. This is our unconscious. We feel mental conflict when confronted by change.

6.         A desire for control. You must accept that few things are within your control to avoid mental conflict.

7.        A need to be liked. It is our natural survival instinct to want to be accepted into a tribe. However it is an unnecessary burden in the modern world .
