1. There is no bad emotion, only bad reactions to emotions. When I feel , I will acknowledge that emotion, take a deep breath and think before I act. The emotion will leave by itself in time.
2. Dont act to please someone unless they have something you need. How will they react to my action. If it is merely a sour look or a spiteful comment, I will proceed. If the police will arrest me, If I lose my job or if the person hurts me in response, I will not proceed.
3. Boats are safe in the harbour bur that is not what boats are for. I will take on challenges. I will exit my comfort zone and feel the excitement of living.
4. Make conscious decisions. I will remain calm and consider the long term consequences. I will analyse the information. I will not submit to my impulses.
5. Be present and notice my senses. I will focus on what is in front of me now. What do I see, hear, smell, taste and feel? See the beauty and complexity of what lies in front of me.
6. Don’t self rationalise. Don’t let your inner voice justify not doing a beneficial task to avoid effort. Do the hard thing and answer questions of whether it it was the right thing to do afterwards.
7. Focus on the positive. Whatever I give me attention to, I will receive and attract more of. If the family house burns down, be relieved that nobody died. If you don't make the cut for a sports team, be excited that you have time to pursue another passion. There is good in the worst situations, so focus on it and develop a positive attitude.
